Oliver

Oliver can be adopted since autumn 2018. He is a large, robust and dominant Pilot Whale male and easily recognizable by his distinctive dorsal fin.

This is how we have experienced Oliver since the beginning of our adoption program:

2018

We had noticed this Pilot Whale years ago, but we have never given him a name. This year we decided to christen him Oliver. He obviously feels well in his family.

2019

We saw Oliver 35 times and realised that he changes families. He moved between Corte's family in the spring and then Nina's later on. He is a handsome male and keeps an eye on the respective family very well. He can be recognised from a distance by his round dorsal fin.

2020

Despite this short season, we saw Oliver very often, namely 14 times. Apart from once, he was always swimming with Nina, sometimes Gorro joined them.

2021

We saw Oliver on the very first tour of the season. In June and early July, he was mainly accompanied by Sonja, but then we saw him almost exclusively with Nina. In total, we spotted him 38 times.

2022

We saw Oliver regularly (40 times in total), but the sightings increased towards the end of the season. We observed him 12 times in August, 9 times in September and 10 times in October. Apart from about 10 times, he was always accompanied by Nina.

2023

We saw Oliver regularly from the beginning to the end of the season. With a few exceptions, he swam with Nina as usual. Sometimes Sierra also joined them.

2024

We were again able to record sightings of Oliver throughout the entire season. However, there were more sightings towards the ebd and we saw him 11 times in both September and October. There was no change in his company. As in previous years, it was mostly Nina.
