What a fulminant seasonal beginning!

6. April 2007

After the winter break all of us were excited how the Strait of Gibraltar would present itself in spring. The first boat trips took place this week and surprised us with a lot of fantastic sightings. The Pilot whales and also the Bottlenose dolphins could be met in a high quantity and even some Sperm whales are already here in the Strait. On the first boat trip on this Good Friday even 3 Fin whales could be observed, swimming towards the Atlantic ocean.

For a long time they were accompanied by a mixed group of Common dolphins and Striped dolphins. Then on the following boat trip the Fin whales could not be found anymore. Instead, our guests were compensated with a fantastic sight of a Sperm Whale.
